Recognition and measurement
Revenue, leases, credit losses, and subsequent events as they hit the statements.
FAR is the Financial Accounting and Reporting core section of the Uniform CPA Examination. After CPA Evolution, every candidate still sits FAR, AUD, and REG, plus one discipline. This page is only FAR.
FAR tests US GAAP recognition, measurement, presentation, and disclosure for business entities, plus government and not-for-profit accounting at the depth the AICPA blueprint names. Items include multiple choice and task-based simulations that ask you to complete a journal entry, a reconciliation, or a disclosure.
The blueprint changes. Confirm the current version before you treat an old review course as complete. IFRS comparisons appear only where the blueprint still asks for them. AUD, REG, and the discipline section need their own decks; do not mix journal-entry cards with tax or attest language. Simulations still need a weekly block that is not reviews.
Revenue, leases, credit losses, and subsequent events as they hit the statements.
Presentation, ratios you must compute, and statement-of-cash-flows classification.
Fund types, measurement focus, and the statements those entities present.
Journal entries, research-oriented tasks, and exhibits you have to reconcile.
For a candidate who has finished intermediate accounting. If government/NFP is new, protect it early; it is easy to leave until too late.
Weeks 1–6
Walk the blueprint’s business-entity areas. Card the journal entry and the disclosure, not the textbook story.
Weeks 7–10
Add government and not-for-profit. Start task-based simulations. Card the exhibit you misread.
Weeks 11–12
Mixed MCQ and simulations. New cards only for repeating blueprint areas. Confirm NTS and appointment details separately.
FAR cards should produce a debit, a credit, or a financial-statement line. “Discuss revenue recognition” is weaker than “record this contract modification.” Simulations reward people who have already retrieved the entry a dozen times.
Spaced repetition is how government and NFP details survive beside commercial GAAP. Keep those tags separate so a weak fund-accounting area is visible.
Write the journal entry before you flip. The explanation can wait.
Ask which statement and which classification, especially for cash flows.
Card measurement focus and the statement that uses it.
500 entry and disclosure cards at 45 minutes a day for twelve weeks. Simulations need extra blocks.
Estimate: 30 seconds per new card, 10 seconds per review. Fixed review gaps, not FSRS or a recall prediction.

Yes. FAR remains a core section. You also sit AUD, REG, and one discipline.
No. Separate decks keep GAAP measurement distinct from audit procedures.
You need both. Cards prepare the entries; simulations test whether you can use exhibits under time.
No. Use licensed review questions. GoodOff stores the cards you write from your misses and notes.
