Controls and architecture
Administrative, technical, and physical controls, and where they sit in a design.
Security+ is a vendor-neutral baseline cybersecurity exam. Current versions organize objectives into domains covering concepts, threats, architecture, operations, and program management. Items include multiple choice and performance-style questions.
You need the vocabulary of controls, cryptography, identity, networking, and incident response — and you need to pick an action in a short scenario. CompTIA retires exam codes on a published schedule. Confirm the code you are registered for before you keep a card from an older book.
Performance-based items ask you to order steps, match controls, or configure a simple scenario. A glossary-only deck will feel complete and still stall on those items. Confirm the exam code you registered; retired-code acronyms waste reviews.
Administrative, technical, and physical controls, and where they sit in a design.
Attack types, indicators, and the first containment step.
Authentication factors, certificates, and when a protocol is the wrong choice.
Incident response order, backups, policies, and risk language.
For someone who already knows basic networking. If you do not, add a networking week before domain cards.
Weeks 1–3
Card each term with the decision it changes. “Define RAID” is weaker than “which backup choice survives this failure.”
Weeks 4–6
Add performance-style drills: order incident-response steps, match controls, pick a secure protocol.
Weeks 7–8
Full practice tests. New cards only for objectives you still miss. Confirm you are studying the registered exam code.
Security+ recall is a choice: which control, which log, which protocol, which step is first. Cards that only expand an acronym will not survive a scenario stem.
Spaced repetition is a good fit because many terms look similar (symmetric vs asymmetric, hashing vs encryption, policies vs standards). Keep the deck tied to the current objectives.
Back of the card must include when you would use it.
Incident-response or hardening steps as a sequence you can recite.
Ask which protocol is inappropriate for the requirement in the stem.
300 scenario cards at 30 minutes a day for eight weeks. Performance drills are extra.
Estimate: 30 seconds per new card, 10 seconds per review. Fixed review gaps, not FSRS or a recall prediction.

CompTIA retires codes on a schedule. Match your registration and the current objectives. Do not keep retired-code trivia.
A lab helps performance items. Many people pass with scenario drills and a careful vocabulary deck. This page does not require a lab.
No. It is an operations and concepts exam. JavaScript fundamentals are a different skill.
Yes, then edit them so each card ends in a decision. Delete glossary clones.
