Functions and algebra
Transformations, inverses, sequences, and binomial work your level includes.
Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches is the IB course built around algebra, functions, trigonometry, calculus, and proof-flavored reasoning. Applications and Interpretation is a different course. HL adds depth and extra topics; SL is not a lighter copy of the same papers.
The guide organizes number and algebra, functions, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability, and calculus. Paper 1 is typically without a calculator; Paper 2 allows one. HL has an additional paper. The internal assessment is a mathematical exploration with its own rubric.
Success looks like choosing a method and carrying algebra accurately. Cards can store identities and “when do I use this.” They cannot replace working full questions. SAT Math and A-level papers share some algebra but not the IA, GDC split, or HL paper, so keep those decks apart.
Transformations, inverses, sequences, and binomial work your level includes.
Identities, equations, and the geometry your HL/SL list names.
Differentiation, integration, and differential equations at your level.
Distributions and inference items that still appear on AA papers.
Use this in the final months. Keep the IA on its own calendar so it does not steal the last two weeks of papers.
Weeks 1–4
Card the methods you still pick late: which integration technique, which trig identity, which sequence formula.
Weeks 5–8
Alternate calculator-free and calculator papers. Card only the method you did not see in time.
Weeks 9–12
Full papers. New cards should be rare. Sleep and arithmetic accuracy matter more than a new identity.
A useful AA card asks “which method first?” or stores an identity you still derive slowly. A card that restates a textbook paragraph will not help you start question 10.
Spaced repetition is for the inventory. Past papers are for the performance. The calculator prefill is a small method deck; it is not a substitute for working time.
Show a stem and ask only which technique you would open with.
Derive the identity once a week, then card the line you lose.
Mark cards that must be doable without a GDC and practice them that way.
250 method and identity cards at 30 minutes a day. Past papers need a separate daily block.
Estimate: 30 seconds per new card, 10 seconds per review. Fixed review gaps, not FSRS or a recall prediction.
Your calculator inputs stay in this browser tab. No uploads, email or signup needed.
No. AI has a different emphasis. Reuse only the algebra cards you verify against the AI guide.
Share the core. Keep HL-only topics tagged so SL reviews stay honest.
No. The exploration is a written project. Cards can store techniques you cite, not the IA itself.
Photograph handwritten notes or paste identities, then edit cards so the back is a method or a worked first line.
