Physical
Mole calculations, Born–Haber, rates, Kc/Kp, and electrode potentials.
A-level Chemistry (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, and related specifications) is a two-year course with written papers and a practical endorsement. Physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry are examined with calculations, mechanisms, and application items — not a single US AP paper.
Physical chemistry includes amount of substance, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibria, and redox. Organic chemistry builds from mechanisms and functional-group chemistry to synthesis and analysis. Inorganic chemistry covers periodicity, group chemistry, and transition metals on many specifications.
Practical skills are assessed in written papers even when the endorsement is separate: errors, uncertainty, and why a step is taken. Check your board’s specification; topic lists are not identical. An AP Chemistry deck will be too light on mechanisms and wrong on practical wording.
Mole calculations, Born–Haber, rates, Kc/Kp, and electrode potentials.
Mechanisms you can draw, reagents, and spectroscopic identification.
Trends, tests, and complex-ion reactions your board names.
Titration technique, uncertainties, and the purpose of a drying agent or a reflux.
If you are in Year 12, stretch phase one across the year. This compression is for the exam season.
Weeks 1–5
Restore mole calculations and energy cycles until you can start without the data booklet crutch for identities you should know.
Weeks 6–10
Draw mechanisms to completion. Card reagents and conditions. Add inorganic tests as “observe / conclude” pairs.
Weeks 11–14
Past papers under time. New cards only for repeating setup or mechanism holes. Practical questions every week.
A-level organic is a drawing skill. Cards should ask for the curly arrow or the reagent, not a paragraph about “nucleophilic substitution.” Physical chemistry cards should start the calculation.
Spaced repetition keeps reagents and inorganic observations available while you spend time on papers. Keep boards and specifications in mind; do not card another board’s unique topic unless you sit that paper.
Draw the mechanism, then card only the arrow you keep placing wrong.
Hide the reagent and condition that produce a named product.
Ask why a step is done, not only what colour appears.
320 calculation, reagent, and practical cards at 30 minutes a day. Past papers are extra.
Estimate: 30 seconds per new card, 10 seconds per review. Fixed review gaps, not FSRS or a recall prediction.
Your calculator inputs stay in this browser tab. No uploads, email or signup needed.
The skills are shared. Topic lists differ. Check AQA, OCR, Edexcel, or your international specification before you keep a card.
The endorsement is a teacher-assessed practical skill. Written papers still ask practical-style questions.
No. Card identities you are expected to know without looking. Use the booklet in papers the way the board allows.
Mechanisms, practical endorsement, and two-year depth differ. Do not reuse an AP deck unchanged.
