Histology and chemistry
Tissues, bonds, pH, and the vocabulary labs assume.
A typical two-semester Anatomy and Physiology sequence walks the body by system: integument, skeleton, muscle, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive, plus introductory chemistry and histology.
Exams mix identification (bones, muscles, vessels, slides) with function: what a hormone changes, how a nephron concentrates urine, why a valve failure produces a finding. Labs add microscopy, physiology measurements, and sometimes cat or model identification.
This is not an MCAT or a licensure exam. The useful deck matches your syllabus and lab list. Card structure and function together so you do not pass a bone quiz and fail the physiology item on the same structure. Rebuild the deck each unit instead of carrying every bone name into finals week.
Tissues, bonds, pH, and the vocabulary labs assume.
Bones, joints, and muscle actions you can demonstrate.
Nervous pathways and endocrine axes as cause-and-effect loops.
Heart, vessels, lungs, kidneys, and GI as they appear on your practical.
Reset this timeline each unit. The calculator uses the weeks until your next large exam, not the whole year.
Weeks 1–4
The same day, card the structures you could not label and the function you could not explain. Do not wait for the weekend.
Weeks 5–8
Walk the lab list with a partner. Card only the pins you miss twice. Physiology labs become “what the number means” cards.
Weeks 9–10
Reviews first. New cards only for structures that still collapse under mixed questions. Sleep before the practical.
A&P cards should be two-sided in spirit even when they are one card: the name and the consequence. “What is the glomerulus?” is weaker than “what happens to filtration if hydrostatic pressure falls?”
Spaced repetition is built for the volume of names in this course. Keep function attached or you will recognize a word and still miss the physiology item.
Use a figure, hide the name, then ask the function in the same sitting.
Say a hormone loop in order, then card the step you skipped.
Give a vital or a spirometry value and ask what it implies.
400 structure-function cards at 30 minutes a day until the next large exam. Labs need walking time too.
Estimate: 30 seconds per new card, 10 seconds per review. Fixed review gaps, not FSRS or a recall prediction.
Your calculator inputs stay in this browser tab. No uploads, email or signup needed.
Card the markings your lab list uses. A complete osteology atlas is larger than one term’s useful deck.
A&P is a course with practicals. MCAT biology samples living systems inside AAMC passages. Reuse function cards; do not reuse the timeline.
Yes. Generate a starting card, then edit so the back includes function, not only the name.
Keep the same method and shorten the unit list. The calculator should match your next exam date.
